Exhibition Count for Nothing
Text from the Gallery Zaum Official website
Katrin Korfmann is inspired by people pursuing their daily lives in public spaces. By capturing, directing and manipulating these situations, she stages 'tableux vivants'. Placed in a frame, they gain an entirely new meaning.
She uses various media depending on the actual context: Installations in public spaces, photography, video and 'public interventions'. Due to the situation, the spontaneous audience is merely spectator and/or active participator in the artwork. The involved parties can be object and voyeur at the same time, not necessarily conscious of their participation.Within these daily contexts she creates new 'virtual spaces'.
By changing or highlighting aspects of the given, mostly urban settings, she aims to provide a platform for the choreography of life.
